Join MMus Popular Music student chrisi at The Albany for their final masters performance.
For her debut performance, chrisi brings a bold set of feminist rap rooted in her lived experience as a woman. Drawing on her conservative upbringing, the show traces a personal journey of unlearning patriarchal narratives and breaking free from the constraints of misogyny and capitalist control. Raw, direct, and emotionally layered, her performance moves between rage and vulnerability - confronting hegemonic systems while carving out space for liberation, sexual freedom, and deep solidarity. Musically, chrisi blends hip-hop influences with classical foundations and smooth R’n’B-inflected vocals, creating a sound that’s as rich as it is confrontational. Her lyrics are unapologetically upfront and document a reckoning with the past, a powerful step toward self-defined truth, and a call to collective empowerment.
chrisi is a rapper, vocalist, and producer crafting bold feminist anthems with emotional depth and sonic precision. Drawing on her classical roots and a wide range of influences, she builds textured soundscapes where sharp lyricism takes center stage. Her work moves between fury and fragility, holding space for both critique and hope - while unapologetically questioning hegemonic society and constructed masculinities. With a voice that’s both powerful and defiant, she invites listeners into a space where resistance sounds as good as it feels.
