Writing Home
I have moved homes all my life; across cities and countries, both with and without my family. If you have never had a physical space to call ‘home’ and everything seems to disappear behind you because of a regular uprooting from everything that is familiar.

Writing Home is an audio-visual performance piece created as a love letter to home, as well as an attempt to reconstruct ‘home’ through my craft. The acute feeling of ‘home’ is represented in this project through a spatiotemporal expression of dreams that I have had. I believe these dreams are a result of my uncertainty, and a constant quest to resolve this feeling in my life. Using various techniques of expression, I communicate this introspection through dreams consisting of what I consider imagery of ‘home’ in my life, presented to me by my subconscious.

In my project, I recreate my dreams and attempt to exist within them again, this time with more agency; as to be in a lucid dream. These particular dreams compel me to introspect on what remains of my impression of home, as conceptual dead wood burns off with time. While this is my endeavour to communicate with the entity of ‘home’ as I understand it, it is also a reconstruction of home through the motifs of these very dreams that often confront me with this mystery.
