From symphonies to soundscape, from Errollyn Wallen to James Blake, A.G. Cook and Luca Perry, music at Goldsmiths is distinctive and inclusive.

MADDIE ASHMAN   
Maddie Ashman is a London-based composer and songwriter whose work explores the resonance and expressive possibilities of microtonality, with a particular focus on just intonation. Ashman creates genre-fluid music that pushes the boundaries of instruments and form.

KATY B released her debut studio album, On a Mission, in 2011, which spawned two top five hits. She has received five nominations at the MOBO Awards and was nominated for Best Push Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011. In 2011 she was also nominated for the Mercury Prize. In 2012 she won a NME Award for Dancefloor Anthem. 

ROSIE BERGONZI is a classically trained percussionist, performing at Shakespeare's Globe and with the RSC. She has also toured world-wide with Neneh Cherry, Celeste and Loyle Carner. Rosie made history in 2024 performing the first ever Handpan concerto, written by Cassie Kinoshi and performed with Chineke! Orchestra.

JAMES BLAKE is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer, he has been credited on releases for Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Rosalía, Strick, JID, Travis Scott, Normani, and Lil Yachty He has won a Mercury Prize, two Grammy Awardsa Latin Grammy Award, and three Brit Award nominations.

JOHN CALE is a Welsh singer, musician, composer, record producer and arranger. He is a founding member of the influential American band the Velvet Underground.

A.G. COOK - A ground-breaking artist, producer and label head, Cook has reshaped the landscape of pop music over the past decade, founding the influential label PC Music in 2013. He works as executive producer for Charli xcx, and won a Grammy for ‘BRAT’ in 2024. Cook has also previously been named as a British GQ Man of the Year and has received multiple Grammy nominations for his work with Charli xcx and Beyoncé. His production credits also include Caroline Polachek, Troye Sivan, Christine & The Queens and Oklou.  

RACHEL DUCKETT is a multiple prize-winning soprano of Jamaican and British descent from London and recently she garnered recognition winning several prizes including the “Sir Willard White Grand Prize Trophy” (The Voice of Black Opera). https://www.rachelsduckett.com/ 

TOM FARNCOMBE is the manager of publishing society relationships at YouTube. He previously held director positions at Printed Music Licencing and Hal Leonard Europe, where responsibilities included overseeing strategic partnerships and business development. Tom’s history includes significant editorial roles at The Music Sales Group, Chester & Novello Music Publishers, and Edition Peters Group. 

ROBIN HAIGH writes music that blends pop, classical, and experimental ideologies and sounds. Honours include the 2025 Luigi Nono Composition Prize, a British Composer Award an Ivor Novello Award and a further five Ivor Novello nominations, including for AESOP 2, which was also nominated for the 2025 Gaudeamus Award.

DANNY L HARLE is a British music producer and composer. He is a founding member of the London-based PC Music label with A. G. Cook. He has produced, composed, and remixed music for a number of artists including Caroline Polachek, Dua Lipa and Olly Alexander, plus collaborations with Lipa, and PinkPantheress
 
IIRIS VESIK better known as simply Iiris, is an Estonian singer, songwriter, and stage actress. Her debut album, The Magic Gift Box, was released in March 2012 under EMI Music Finland. She is also a member and the main singer of the group Night Tapes 

TONY NJOKU is an award-winning British composer and multidisciplinary artist known for his distinctive fusion of styles, and as a bold and innovative voice in contemporary experimental music, earning critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Dazed, Clash and many more.

JAMES SCHOUTEN (operatic tenor) won the 2024 Mastersingers Prize + Audience Prize (Carole Rees Awards) in London, sang in the final of the Clonter Opera Prize (2024), won the Ye Cronies Competition at RCS (2023) and reached the final of Marmo All’Opera in Carrara, Italy (2022).

ERROLLYN WALLEN CBE is a multi-award-winning Belize-born British composer named as one of the world’s top twenty most performed living classical composers. Her prolific output includes over twenty operas and a large catalogue of orchestral, chamber and vocal works. In August 2024 Errollyn Wallen was appointed Master of the King’s Music.

ROSS FROM FRIENDS aka Felix Clary Weatherall, is a British producer and creator of "lo-fi house" genre. Signed to Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label and with two other Music alumni, they have been touring extensively, including at The Roundhouse, BBC Maida Vale Studios for Radio 1, Primavera Sound, Coachella, Glastonbury and Parklife. https://www.rossfromfriends.net/  

Several recent bands have come out of Goldsmiths Music Department, including Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Prima Queen, Deary and Puma Blue. 
 
Many of our alumni also play in bands and are successful session musicians, including:
MAX GOFF is a British bass guitarist known for his long-term collaboration with singer-songwriter Tom Odell contributing electric and upright bass to key albums including the platinum-selling Long Way Down (2013), while also performing on extensive international tours.

BROOKE BETHAM is a British singer-songwriter and long-time friend of Sam Fender who officially joined his band in August 2024 as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. She contributes to his third album, People Watching, and tours globally with him.
